HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE
The Management of Patratu Thermal
Power Station (A Unit of State Electricity Board) has
established P.T.P.S. College in 1972 to provide higher education
among the students of this area. For which Ranchi University
accorded affiliation to teach intermediate education. Ranchi
University and the State Govt. Provided temporary affiliation of
degree standard in Arts, Science and commerce faculties from the
session 1982-83.Within no time P.T.P.S. College, Patratu came in
to lime light with outstanding result, sports and cultural
activities. It was the only college in the locality with
co-education and full-filling the need of higher education to
the local economically deprived S.C. and S.T. students, Then
from the session 1994-95 the Govt. and the university provided
permanent affiliation to the college in the faculty of Arts,
Science and commerce upto Honours level. The land for the
college building and other infra-structure was provided by
Patratu Thermal Power Station management and State Electricity
Board. P.T.P.S. College is registered under society Act and also
registered in section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC of Govt. of India.
Presently P.T.P.S. College, Patratu (Ramgarh)
is having well-constructed building with well-equipped
laboratories and a rich library. The university Grants
commission has provided the funds for development of
infra-structure. The College is having career and counselling
cell, IQAC and very active NSS unit. NSS unit of the college has
trained the students to take up the social welfare activities
for which NSS unit has been awarded national award. The student
of the college has been State topper at intermediate level and
University toppers at ‘Honours’ level as well one of the staff
of the colleges is a national athlete and represented national
team at China and Srilanka. The alumni of the college are now
engaged in different academic, administrative and other
important positions of the society. Vinoba Bhave University,
Hazaribagh has been pleased to provide permission and
affiliation to start Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA)
course. The computer laboratory is considered to be one of the
best in the University.
P.T.P.S. College, Patratu (Ramgarh)
provides a rich learning and teaching environment to nurture the
talents inculcating a hunger for lifelong learning. The college
is considered to be one of the best and senior most affiliated
college of Jharkhand State.
